Compact Brownian surfaces I. Brownian disks

We show that, under certain natural assumptions, large random plane bipartite maps with a boundary converge after rescaling to a one-parameter family (BDL, 0 < L < ∞) of random metric spaces homeomorphic to the closed unit disk of R2, the space BDL being called the Brownian disk of perimeter L and unit area. These results can be seen as an extension of the convergence of uniform plane quadrangu...

Brownian Brownian Motion – I

A classical model of Brownian motion consists of a heavy molecule submerged into a gas of light atoms in a closed container. In this work we study a 2D version of this model, where the molecule is a heavy disk of mass M ≫ 1 and the gas is represented by just one point particle of mass m = 1, which interacts with the disk and the walls of the container via elastic collisions. Chaotic behavior of...

Brownian dynamics simulation of elliptic disks

Within this thesis, we consider Brownian dynamics simulations of anisotropic colloids modeled by elliptic disks. At first, a mathematical framework is developed in order to describe ellipses and to derive corresponding collision laws. Then, we introduce the conception of an event-driven algorithm. Within this scope, the collision time of two elliptic disks has to be determined. For this purpose...

The geometry of Brownian surfaces

Motivated by Segal’s axiom of conformal field theory, we do a survey on geometrical random fields. We do a history of continuous random fields in order to arrive at a field theoretical analog of Klauder’s quantization in Hamiltonian quantum mechanic by using infinite dimensional Airault-Malliavin Brownian motion. Brownian Motion in a Brownian Crack

Let D be the Wiener sausage of width ε around two-sided Brownian motion. The components of 2-dimensional reflected Brownian motion in D converge to 1-dimensional Brownian motion and iterated Brownian motion, resp., as ε goes to 0.
